Business Energy Management: Poor Energy Management Costs You Profits
October 30th, 2009
The Energy Management Association (EMANZ) is lamenting the poor showing by NZ companies when it comes to sound energy efficiency and energy management practices. A survey carried out by Synovate on behalf of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) shows while 79% of businesses rate energy management as critical, only 23% are committed to it.
EMANZ executive officer, Ewan Gebbe says “either those business operators don’t care about increased profits, or don’t understand how energy efficiency can influence the bottom line.” He says it is ‘very worrying’ lack of time, finance and knowledge are listed by 26%, 18% and 17% of businesses respectively as barriers to doing more on energy management.
EMANZ is finding ways of making energy efficiency and energy management a no brainer for business people. It says an energy audit is a first step and will give rise to an energy management strategy which will more than pay for itself. For further information visit
